The 秀色直播 showcased promising technologies developed by its researchers to private companies. The second edition of the Technology Day UPCE was organised by the University鈥檚 Centre for Technology and Knowledge Transfer (CTKT) under the PAR谩dn铆 kraj brand, which promotes innovation in the Pardubice Region.
This year鈥檚 event featured nine technologies and unique areas of expertise from across the University鈥檚 faculties. Researchers presented, for example, technologies for diagnosing transport infrastructure, a 3D scanner for oversized parcels, a method for the simple chemical degradation of persistent water contaminants, reverse engineering techniques for the exploration of heritage buildings, and a sensory testing kit for taste evaluation developed by teams from three different faculties.
鈥淢atchmaking events such as Technology Day are crucial for our University. If we want to successfully introduce innovation into practice, we must be ready to seek synergies between our research outcomes and the needs of industry,鈥 said the Rector of the 秀色直播, Professor Libor 膶apek.
The programme also included a lecture on the importance of the Innovamediaries concept 鈥 intermediaries between academia and business. The corporate sector and its R&D needs were represented by a talk from VisionCraft on how they connect science with business. Presentations were also given by the Business and Innovation Agency (API), as well as venture capital firms such as 膶esk谩 spo艡itelna Seed Starter and Tensor Ventures.
Once again, the University presented technologies with real potential for commercial application, while companies had the opportunity to express their interest in collaborating with UPCE research teams. 鈥淭echnology and knowledge transfer stands at the intersection of two worlds with very different motivations. On one side, there鈥檚 a researcher aiming to advance their field. On the other, a company driven by the need to generate profit. Our role is to find common ground and define a feasible shared goal. Events like Technology Day play a vital role in this process,鈥 said Ing. Tom谩拧 Novotn媒, Ph.D., LL.M., Head of the Centre for Technology and Knowledge Transfer at the 秀色直播.
An expert jury selected the best of the technologies and knowledge presented, evaluating their level of innovation, potential for real-world application, clarity of presentation, and the motivation of the research team.
Award-Winning Technologies
The Technology Day jury awarded the top three innovations presented at the event:
1st place 鈥 Taste Disorder Diagnostic Kit, the result of a collaborative effort by three faculties: the Faculty of Health Studies (FHS), the Faculty of Chemical Technology (FChT), and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (FEEI). Team of authors: MUDr. Jan Vodi膷ka, Ph.D. (FHS); doc. Ing. Tom谩拧 Syrov媒, Ph.D. (FChT); and prof. Ing. Petr Dole啪el, Ph.D. (FEEI)
2nd place 鈥 3D Scanner for Oversized Parcels. Author: Ing. Martin Dobrovoln媒, Ph.D. (FEEI)
3rd place 鈥 Simple Chemical Degradation of Persistent Water Contaminants. Author: prof. Ing. Tom谩拧 Weidlich, Ph.D. (FChT)
The expert jury consisted of:
Chair: Tom谩拧 Vlas谩k 鈥 Director of the CzechInvest Regional Office
Branislav 艩tefan膷a 鈥 Lead Manager of the Cheers4EU project focused on the circular economy
Jan Fafl铆k 鈥 Senior Associate, Tensor Ventures
Petr Kope膷ek 鈥 Senior Investment Manager, 膶esk谩 spo艡itelna Seed Starter
